Here is an interesting article in the
New York Times from yesterday, regarding the question of when, developmentally speaking, a fetus feels pain. There is much disturbing information in this article, and it raises many important questions. It reveals, for instance, that doctors used to perform open heart surgery (and other surgeries) on newborns without anesthetic based on their "medical" opinion that the nervous system of the newborn was not developed enough for them to "feel" pain. It also shows, I think, the motivation by the pro-choice movement to suppress the facts, as well as the investment in the medical community to maintain the status quo.
Any mother knows that newborns experience pain. It is a frightening world...
