Jolting interpretations

Great theology, like the Bible in which all great theology is soaked, is essentially transhistorical and transcultural, and interprets us, joltingly sometimes, as we seek to interpret it.

I'm glad for this quote! I've often observed to myself that Christians seem to have a worldview that transcends the passage of time and changes in culture to some degree, although untangling our worldview from our own day and age is, ultimately, incredibly difficult. Still, we stand the best chance, I think, when we stand on the Word.

Brilliant. Thanks for sharing.
